Hazardous Waste Collection Program
Pleasant Valley residents have year-round access to the safe disposal of unwanted products such as paint, lawn and garden chemicals, automotive fluids, batteries, florescent bulbs and house cleaners. Business waste is not accepted. For more information please visit the RecycleSpot website and click on the “HHW” tab, or call (816) 701-8226.
Residents of participating communities may also drop off household hazardous waste for free at two permanent facilities located in Kansas City and Lee’s Summit. The Kansas City facility is located at 4707 Deramus Street, and is open year-round on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. No appointment is needed. The Lee’s Summit facility at 2101 S.E. Hamblen Road is open the first Saturday and on the third Wednesday of each month, year-round. Appointments are required. Call (816) 969-1805 to schedule an appointment.
The Regional HHW Collection Program offers a safe way to properly dispose of unwanted hazardous waste and helps to protect public health and safety. The MARC Solid Waste Management District administers the Regional HHW Program with funding provided in part by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and participating cities and counties.
Recycling
- Please contact your trash service for curbside recycling options.
- For presorted recycling, Kansas City has a recycling center located at Pleasant Valley Park, west of KCMO North Patrol, on Pleasant Valley Road. It does not require Kansas City residency to use these bins. Here is some information about it: The address is Pleasant Valley Park, 6401 NE Pleasant Valley Rd, Kansas City MO 64119. It does have a manager on site that can assist people. The hours of operation are Wednesday-Saturday, 9am to 5pm. It is gated or locked when not open. They accept everything curbside recycling accepts, cardboard, paper, plastic, etc., plus they also have containers for glass and scrap metal but items must be separated. It is managed by a company called Bridging the Gap.
- Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) has a recycling search engine at RecycleSpot that can be used to locate places to take certain types of items.
Trash Service
The City does not provide trash service. Residents will need to contact a city licensed trash contractor for service.
