Pleasant Valley Municipal Court
The Pleasant Valley Municipal Court operates as the Pleasant Valley Municipal Division of the 7th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri, serving as a qualified division of the Clay County Circuit Court. The Municipal Court handles traffic and other municipal ordinance violations filed by the Pleasant Valley Police Department, as well as cases initiated by Animal Control and Code Enforcement Officers.
Mission
The mission of the Pleasant Valley Municipal Court is to treat all individuals appearing before the Court in a timely, courteous, and professional manner while ensuring every person receives a fair and impartial resolution of their case.
Continuances
One continuance per defendant may be granted without a court appearance for the initial hearing only.
To request a continuance, defendants must contact the Court in advance. Continuances will not be granted by Court Clerks on the same day as court.
Please note that phones, cameras, and recording devices are not permitted in the courtroom.
Payments
The Court accepts cash, checks, MasterCard, and Visa as payment methods. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Pleasant Valley Municipal Division.
Online payments are available for most minor traffic violations and may allow defendants to resolve their case without appearing in court. Individuals may review their case through Missouri Case.net or contact the court at (816) 792-4812 to make a payment by phone.
Subpoenas
A subpoena is a legal order requiring an individual to appear in court at a specific date and time. Subpoenas are typically issued when a defendant pleads not guilty and requests a trial.
The Court may issue subpoenas to complainants, witnesses, and victims at least 30 days prior to the defendant’s court date.
